Biggles: or James C Bigglesworth (known to his friends as
Biggles) is the pilot flying hero from the children's books written
by Capt W.E. Johns, his intrepid adventures around the world in
aircraft. From world war 1 in camels, through adventure flying,
to the second world war in Spitfires, onwards to being an air detective
in helicopters and jets.
Captain W.E.Johns: (William Earl Johns 1893-1968) wrote
98 Biggles books and also several books on other subjects, amongst
others: Gimlet a commando, Worrals of the WAAF and a series of science
fiction books. He was the editor of Popular Flying Magazine 1932-39.
